SAD Youth Peace Camp
Pagsanjan, Laguna – In line with Sulong CARHRIHL‘s belief in catering young people’s issues as relevant issues on peace and human rights advocacy, the network in partnership with Families of Victims of Involuntary Disappearance and Generation Youth Peace Network facilitated a Youth Peace Camp for members of Samahan ng mga Anak ng Deseparacidos (SAD) last April 25 – 28, 2011 at Residencia del Riyo, Pagsanjan, Laguna.
The Peace Camp focused on providing venues for SAD youth leaders where they can raise awareness on key human rights and peace issues, as well as for leadership and skills development. The ADIDS approach was used for the activity. The ADIDS approach is a form of activity-based education method which aims to deepen the understanding of the participants through series of workshops.
Film viewing, sharing, reflections and workshops were some of the activities enjoined by the participants. They also did an internal plenary planning addressing organizational concern including education, advocacy and finance mobilization concerns.
The Camp ended with a commitment setting of the participants for continued engagement in human rights and peace work.
