Sulong CARHRIHL, calls on the P-Noy Government and the leaders of the CPP-NPA-NDFP to resume Peace Talks as soon as possible. At Sulong CARHRIHL’s recent Partners’ Consultative Assembly attended by sectoral, church and academe-based leaders from different communities and areas affected by the armed conflict, the leaders asserted that the two parties should resume talks to take up the other three agenda agreed upon under the Hague Declaration. These agenda are Economic and Social Reforms, Political and Constitutional Reforms and lastly, Disposition of Forces and End of Hostilities.
Sulong CARHRIHL together with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process held the first Roundtable Discussion on Extra-Judicial Killings in the Philippines last July 12, 2010 at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani Museum, Quezon City.
It PROVIDES PROTECTION to individuals and communities directly affected by the conflict, and sets concrete measures to promote HR/IHL.
As signatories to the CARHRIHL, it holds both the GRP and the CPP-NPA-NDF ACCOUNTABLE for their actions.
It gives human rights victims ADDITIONAL RECOURSE to seek justice for violations committed on and after 7 August 1998.
Through active advocacy and enforcement, it serves as a MECHANISM FOR PREVENTION of HR/IHL violations and conflict.
It PROMOTES HR/IHL norms among all actors which is important in building a just and peaceful society.
Through mutual respect of all parties, it ENHANCES THE ENVIRONMENT for more substantial agreements leading to a peaceful settlement of the armed conflict.
